Keeping fit and healthy on holiday, and the best of the best of the best.
That’s some title huh? Yup, I’m going to try not to overload you too much, but the holiday season is well and truly underway, and when I got back from a recent staycation, I came back and just wanted to overhaul everything! It’s so good and important to take breaks, step away from your normal daily life so that when you come back to it, you love love love it even more, but more importantly you realise what you can live without quite nicely thank you.
Keeping fit on holiday.
Rule 1. Enjoy yourself, make the time to make memories, don’t do your usual scheduled workouts or feel that you HAVE to use the hotel gym. If you are lucky to be anywhere that has better weather than where you live, get outside! Do activities on your holiday, is there a walking tour, or a bike tour you can do?
Rule 2. Moderation. In moderation! Don’t deny yourself food whilst you are away! I am very very good these days and knowing my limit, don’t abandon your basic nutrition principles, but don’t obsess about them either! Visit farmers markets if you can or find out where the locals hang out, its bound to be awesome.
Rule 3. Make the most of every day! That’s what you are there for!
I had a fantastic week off work, visiting friends down south in Englandshire (27 degrees), managed to rattle out a couple of 30 mile road bike rides with my friend, and not fall apart the next day, then later in the week going the furthest North in mainland Britain I have ever been (7 degrees…sigh) an hour North of Ullapool, doing coastal walks and trying not to end up head to toe in mud. The beaches were stunning, and most of the roads where like single track rollercoasters littered with sheep. Marvellous.
Here’s the next bit. I think I have an invisible sign above my head that says ‘under construction’. It’s a good feeling. I am very fortunate to have a job where I feel I am fulfilling my soul purpose, and I feel very blessed in my work, my family and friends are the bees knees, I’m feeling better than I did when I was in my 20’s and I am really far away from my 20’s! Everything sounds great huh? That’s exactly the right time to figure out what’s next. I am having a house detox like you wouldn’t believe, anything that I haven’t worn or used in the last year is getting passed on, or put to charity. I’m researching what’s next to learn about massage, and how I can expand my knowledge, and every day I make sure that people in my life feel valued and vital.
It’s harvest time (really it is, ask a farmer), and I’m putting everything in my life to the threshing floor, refining, sorting out the wheat from the chaff. Ding Dong!
